Who this covers

This page covers the Peseros rider app and this website (including the waitlist and survey). Operators use a separate dashboard. Drivers are covered by the driver privacy policy.

Information we collect

• Precise location, to show you on the map, find nearby stops and routes, and estimate walking time
• Background location while you share a trip or we detect that you are on a bus — including when the app is in the background or closed
• Optional anonymous ridealong, so other riders can see that bus on the map
• Account details if you sign in with Google or Apple (name and email)
• Device information: model, operating system, and app version
• Usage data: routes you open, favorite stops and places, and searches
• Camera, only to scan a QR code on a bus to pay
• Push notifications, if you allow them
• Payments: wallet balance, fares, and transaction history if you use digital pay
• On the website: waitlist email, Google sign-in, and survey answers if you send them

Location

We collect precise location. Foreground use is for the map, nearby stops, and walking ETAs. Background use is for detecting that you are on a bus and, if you opt in, sharing that trip so others can see the vehicle. Ridealong is optional and can be stopped in the app. You can revoke location in system settings; some map features will stop working.

• Ridealong is anonymous: your name is not shown to other riders
• You can decline background location and still use the app in the foreground

How we use it

We use this information to run live maps and ETAs, optional trip sharing, accounts, payments, notifications, support, and to improve the product. We do not sell your personal information.

When we share

We do not sell personal information. We share it only as needed to run Peseros:

• Other riders, if you opt into ridealong: they see an approximate bus location, not your name
• The service providers listed below, to operate maps, login, analytics, email, and hosting
• When required by law
• Aggregated or anonymous data with transportation authorities for urban planning

Service providers

Some providers process data outside Mexico, including in the United States. They only get what they need to provide their service:

• Google — Sign-In and maps
• Apple — Sign-In on iOS
• Mapbox — maps on this website
• Firebase — waitlist
• PostHog (United States) — product analytics and session replay; text fields are masked
• Resend — email
• Our cloud hosting and database providers

How long we keep it

We keep information only as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal duties, or resolve abuse. Live location is short-lived. Accounts, favorites, waitlist emails, survey answers, and payment history last longer until you ask us to delete them or you close the account.

Analytics, cookies, and replay

The website uses cookies for sign-in and basic operation. The rider app uses PostHog for product analytics and session replay to debug the experience. Search and other text inputs are masked in replays. You can limit some tracking in your device or browser settings.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete, or object to our use of your information (ARCO rights in Mexico). Email privacy@peseros.com and we will handle the request. You can also revoke location, camera, and notifications in system settings, and stop ridealong in the app.

Minors

Peseros is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the new date here and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email.
